The NFL has confirmed that Jay-Z will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027. The event will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This announcement finalizes the headlining act for the game, although the teams playing in the championship remain unknown until the end of January.
Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, has held the production partnership with the NFL since 2019. As a key decision-maker in the process, Jay-Z selected himself for this year’s slot. While many past performers have invited additional artists to share the stage, Jay-Z has not yet announced any special guests.
The timeline for the halftime production began with Roc Nation taking over the event’s creative direction in 2019. Since then, the partnership has managed the logistics and artist selection for the Super Bowl. The 2027 selection marks Jay-Z’s first solo headlining bid for the event. The NFL confirmed the booking on October 27, 2026, setting the stage for a 14-minute performance.
Speculation has focused on four artists who have strong historical ties to Jay-Z. Beyoncé, his wife since 2018, is a leading candidate. The two have collaborated on numerous tracks, including “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love,” and have toured together. Beyoncé performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2016 with Coldplay and Bruno Mars. She also sang the national anthem in 2001 and performed at a halftime show in Houston on Christmas Day 2024.
Rihanna is another prominent name in the conversation. Jay-Z, who served as CEO of Def Jam Records, discovered Rihanna in 2005. The two have recorded songs together, such as “Umbrella” and “Run This Town.” In 2026, Rihanna appeared as a surprise guest at Jay-Z’s tour at Yankee Stadium. She previously headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, where she announced her pregnancy.
Blu Ivy Carter, the eldest child of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, is also considered a possibility. She performed as a dancer during her mother’s 2024 halftime show in Houston and later joined the Cowboy Carter tour. Her presence on an NFL stage is not new, as she has attended games with her father. A performance could turn the event into a family affair.
Eminem rounds out the list of likely candidates. He recently joined Jay-Z on stage during his current tour. The two rappers collaborated on the track “Renegade” for Jay-Z’s album The Blueprint. Eminem has prior experience with the Super Bowl halftime show, serving as a special guest during a hip-hop lineup in 2022.
The NFL has not released a final guest list. Jay-Z’s team will make decisions as production schedules are finalized. The next major date for the event is February 14, 2027, when the game and the halftime performance occur.
