William Contreras enters Game 3 of the World Series leading the Milwaukee Brewers in offense. He holds a .395 batting average and a .658 slugging percentage for the postseason. He also leads the team with three home runs and 25 total bases. His on-base plus slugging mark stands at 1.135.

Manager Pat Murphy describes Contreras as the team's engine. "We call him our pit bull. We do have to keep him in a cage, unfortunately," Murphy said after the team clinched the National League Division Series in San Diego. Murphy noted that opposing pitching staffs know Contreras expects a lot. They know he means business.

Contreras played a key role in Milwaukee's first World Series win in 44 years. He threw out two baserunners at second base. He blocked pitches in the dirt. Offensively, he recorded two hits, a walk, and an RBI. His performance included a powerful home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the regular season that became a viral moment for fans.

His presence extends beyond the statistics. Contreras frequently leaves the dugout to greet teammates after big plays. He ran to the field after Sal Frelick hit a World Series home run to lead the celebration. "The celebrations are for them," Contreras said during a press conference in the National League Championship Series. "For them to feel the energy, feel the vibes and for us to feel that together."

This intensity stems from a personal drive that has defined his recent seasons. In a 2025 essay, he wrote that opponents had to kill him to beat him. Murphy noted that Contreras wanted to play every game, including periods when he played through a broken finger during the 2025 season. He prefers catching over designated hitter duties.

"He's driven to a point," Murphy said, "where sometimes you have to intervene." Murphy has grown accustomed to the catcher's energy. After a 3-2 playoff win against San Diego, he joked with Contreras about his readiness for the next day. Contreras responded with a single word: "Ready."

The team now faces the challenge of maintaining this momentum. Contreras recently wrote to Brewers fans, stating that the team fears nothing because it has experienced everything. He and the rest of the roster are scheduled to take the field for Game 3 of the World Series.
